Reuse with attribution

Data and documentation license.

These terms make the model easier to reference and reuse while preserving its sources, limitations, and attribution.

Project-authored material

To the extent Pet Cost Planner owns the material, the project-authored dataset compilation and accompanying methodology documentation are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0).

You may share and adapt that material, including for commercial use, provided you give appropriate credit, link to the license, indicate whether changes were made, and do not imply endorsement.

Required attribution

A practical attribution is:

Source: Pet Cost Planner cost model, version 1.0.0, https://petcostplanner.com/methodology/ — CC BY 4.0.

When publishing a calculated estimate, also preserve the educational-estimate disclaimer and link to the methodology.

Third-party sources

The ASPCA and NAPHIA publications and any other third-party material remain subject to their originating publishers’ rights and terms. U.S. government source data is governed by the applicable agency’s terms. This page does not grant rights Pet Cost Planner does not own.

The data documentation identifies every source and which fields rely on it.

What is not covered

This license does not grant rights to the Pet Cost Planner name, visual identity, logos, or website software. It also does not turn planning estimates into professional advice, provider quotes, or warranties.
