Pet Cost Planner is an independent educational budgeting utility built to replace vague national ranges and false local precision with inspectable assumptions and a better next step.
What we are building
The calculator helps U.S. dog and cat households plan predictable monthly and annual care, first-year setup, a flat-dollar long-term scenario, optional insurance, and a separate emergency savings pace. Visitors can replace selected model assumptions with real quotes and download the resulting plan. It uses public source data and runs entirely in the browser.
The key distinction is simple: a state-adjusted estimate is useful for planning, while a current written quote is useful for buying care. The site shows both the estimate and a five-question checklist for getting the local number.
